Annual Winter Family Hike- Monon Trail and Marott Woods Nature Preserve

Don’t let the winter weather keep you inside!  Winter can be one of the best hiking seasons. It’s a great way to take in the sights and sounds of the season and see things along the trails that you might not normally see when the vegetation is in full bloom.  It’s also a great way to get some physical exercise and mental release after the holidays. Start 2023 off right with this great outdoor activity for all ages.  Join us for a family-friendly winter hike beginning on the Monon Trail, one of Indy’s most used greenways, and continuing through Marott Woods Nature Preserve.  Ecologists from DPW’s Land Stewardship group will lead a hike through the nature preserve sharing the unique natural history of the preserve and discovering a few preserve’s unique traits along the way. Marott Woods Nature Preserve is one of the City’s best places for viewing Indiana’s indigenous forest. Warm beverages will be provided.  The event is free, but registration is suggested since space is limited on the hike.
