Get Moving on the Greenways This Summer!

It’s time to get moving and join us for some great walks on Indy Greenways. The Indianapolis Greenways Partnership, along with our community partners the Parks Alliance of Indianapolis, Indy Parks, and Jump IN for Healthy Kids, are pleased to announce our new summer walking series Get Moving on the Greenways! This is a great way to explore the Indy’s greenway system and to develop a routine of walking. Each month, one of our community partners will lead an evening walk on one of the Indy Greenways.

Indy Greenways are found throughout our city. They provide recreation, transportation and important connections in our neighborhoods. As part of the Get Moving on the Greenways! initiative, we are hosting a series of walks on several of the greenways, including the White River Trail, Grassy Creek Trail, Pleasant Run and B&O Trail. Take time to discover YOUR neighborhood greenway or introduce yourself to a new path and join us on one or all of this series. Each of our Get Moving! series will include a moderate 1.5 mile walk featuring a different guest host that will provide fun, healthy and educational tips. These are all-age appropriate events, and we encourage even friendly dogs to join our groups!

“We are excited to be partnering with the Greenways Partnership on this walking program,” said Megan McKinney Cooper, Communications Director for Jump IN for Healthy Kids. “This program provides an opportunity to explore some of the city’s great greenways, but also offers an opportunity for people to begin and sustain a routine of walking. Efforts such as this help to reinforce Jump IN’s goals of creating healthy places, creating healthy neighborhoods, and creating healthy communities. We are excited to be a part of the Get Moving on the Greenways programming.”

The summer 2023 walking series will include four walks which will be held on the second Wednesday of each month between June-September. Walk locations and walk hosts include:

June 14, 7:00 pm- Riverside Adventure Park (former Riverside Golf Course) on the

White River Greenway- hosted by the Parks Alliance of Indianapolis.
